Me>You

So as of right now, 2007 is better than all of 2006. 2006 was a complete failure.
To 2007, and the internet.
peace, love, brotherhood, capitalism.
heart.

this is not justice. This is not just.

Fisheye lenses

Remember that one episode of South Park where everyone watched the show of dogs in hats because they were high on cough syrup?

Thoughts

JOANNA NEWSOM's "Ys"

god this is pretentious bullshit. What the hell. If I wanted to hear this kind of bullshit I would go work at a renaissance faire.

POTATOES, SALT

Pretty much any combonation of these two is fucking rad

Going to Hell

What just happened (in a script)

RUDY
(puts in 'Reservior Dogs')
"Binder, this better not be a shitty movie or I'll have to kill your family."
SAM
"No, dude, it is one of the best movies."
RUDY
"Good."
SAM
"Although, maybe it should be a shitty movie. Then I can keep the christmas presents I bought."

Fucking A

link

Briefly,

CD's I have bought since October and brief reviews of them (links cut out half way through because AMG is shite):

>Radiohead>My Iron Lung

Not as good as the Bends, and on par for mediocrity with Pablo Honey. 6.8

>Air>LateNightTales
>the Flaming Lips>LateNightTales

Fuck you for existing, company that is making LateNightTales CDs. These aren't cover albums at all- they're mixtapes. I can make mixtapes. Also, the 'solo' guy at the end of the Flaming Lips one is shitty. (Spoiler alert!) Air- 7.0 tFL- 7.2

>Wilco>A.M.
>Wilco>Summerteeth

Really wierd seeing where these guys who made "A Ghost is Born" and "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" were coming from. Also, am I the only person who fucking loves the songs "Shot in the Arm" and "Spiders"? 6.6/8.4

>Portishead>Live

Not as good as a studio album, but they really need to make more music. Either that or go insane. I can't stand the idea of musicians just retiring. 7.7

>The Walkmen>A Hundred Miles Off

Pretty awesome so far. Haven't had too much of a chance to listen to it yet though. Rating Pending.

>Mogwai>Friend of the Night EP
>Sigur Ros>Sæglopur EP

Whereas Mogwai's was a pre-release to Mr Beast, Sigur Ros's is a cash-in on Takk... . Also, where Mogwai's was really quite rad, Sigur Ros's didn't really do much for me. Could be the 2 minute intro to track one which consists of static that sounds like people wrinkling cellophane into a phone. Could be lack of really moving tracks. Whatever. 8.0/4.5

>the Yeah Yeah Yeahs>Fever to Tell

Haven't really listened to it yet. I gotta be in the mood for the YYYs. Although, Show Your Bones is such a fucking solid album.

>Air>Talkie Walkie
>Air>10,000Hz Legend
>Air>Moon Safari

Why have I not heard of these guys until now? Seriously. Fucking amazing poppy make your move on the girl next to you music (although 10,000Hz Legend is kinda lackluster). 8.9/5.5/9.6

>Cat Power>You Are Free

Sometimes I want to give Chan Marshall hugs. Because sometimes she sounds so very very sad. Also, my new favorite female singer (replacing Tori Amos, Regina Spektor, Beth Gibbons, Fiona Apple and Karen O) 8.7

>TV on the Radio>Return to Cookie Mountain

Apparently the best album of the year's packaging was designed by a ten year old who thought birds nests were the awesome. 9.7

Unflavored

So I bought some unflavored floss.

It wasn't unflavored though. It tasted kinda like blood and pain.

Oh wait.

Liner Notes II

You know, I really enjoy drawing. I’m not terribly great at it, and I don’t want to do it for a living or anything. Actually, all my drawings are kinda small. Like, they’d look really rad as liner notes for a cd or something, but large? Nah.

Actually, I think maybe I could do the liner notes thing for a living. Those are fun. Fun to read too.

Shitzorz

I totally lost my phone. People I know, email me your telephone numbers. People I don't know, leave supportive messages in the comments. Stuff like, "My brother's friend lost his phone at some party and his girlfriends number was in it and she broke up with him because she thought he was ignoring her when she called. It ruined his life. Now he drinks Robutussin DM under the overpass."

You know. Supportive stuff.

Liner notes

CD production is going along. I've got seven tracks done and I only absolutely hate one of them, in that it is completely unlistenable and i should probably delete it.
Debating whether or not I want to record some covers. I'll probably record them but not release them. Anyways.

Oh, my mixing/mastering anecdote. Goes a little something like this.:

This song sounds pretty good, but it's missing something.
(conscience pops up)
Angel: You should probably use a chorus effect and some more reverb on the only part that you can audibly discern so that it's all light and etherial.
Devil: You should probably use an amp modulation and some more reverb on the only part you can hear so that it sounds like a galaga machine in a cave.

Remember, if there's any doubt as to whether or not something is good, you should always just add more reverb on it. It makes it better.
